Profile

Plays as an attacking midfielder or as a left-sided playmaker. Hasn't had many first-team chances so far but the source expects more in the coming tournament. Regarded as one of the most promising products of San Lorenzo's academy: quick and skillful, gets into scoring positions often, with a strong right-footed shot. Tipped as the long-term successor to both Gorosito and Silas, though he lacks their experience.

Career to date (as of mid-1997)

Has been with San Lorenzo for 11 years. Debuted in the Primera División on 17 March 1996 against Racing — the same Copa Libertadores match that gave Estévez his debut — and was one of the standout performers among the youngsters fielded that day. Returned to the reserves once the senior side's Libertadores run ended against River, and shone there: one of the key figures in the reserve team's title-winning 1996/97 campaign, with 20 appearances and 7 goals. Split time between the first team and reserves last season; good enough performances in both to earn a permanent first-team squad spot for the coming Apertura under Castelli.
