A national-team full-back per the source, primarily on the left despite being right-footed, which also lets him operate on the right when needed. Rated for excellent ball control, clean tackling and real pace, with the left-back spot at Boca described as a genuine open competition between him and Arruabarrena throughout the season.
Broke into Huracán's first team in the 1994 preseason under coach Héctor Cúper, debuting in a scoreless draw with Rosario Central on 26 February 1994 and holding the starting spot from there — a key part of Huracán's Clausura '94 runner-up side. Signed by Boca, the club he supports, as Apertura '96 began, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Debuted for Argentina on 20 June 1996 in a 2-0 friendly win over Poland's U-23 side, and went to the 1997 Copa América in Bolivia as Daniel Passarella's backup right-back behind Cardozo — Passarella having generally preferred Chamot and Sorín ahead of him.
