Follow-up to a San Lorenzo de Almagro 1997 batch sourced from the same PC Fútbol database as the Boca Juniors and Vélez Sarsfield batches. The first pass processed 16 of an original 20 referenced PDFs (14 added as bio stubs, 2 excluded — Domingo Cardozo, Adrián Coria — both still registered to their prior clubs through Clausura '97 per their own trajectory tables); the remaining 4 (Luiz Fernando, Lussenhoff, Manusovich, Meloño) were logged as "missing" at the time. This follow-up batch received the full 27-file folder: the 16 already-processed files plus 11 new ones — the 4 previously-missing names plus 7 never seen before (Núñez, Paredes, Passet, Paulo Silas, Rivadero, Saric, Tuzzio). Of those 11, 8 are confirmed genuine Clausura '97 San Lorenzo squad members and added here. 3 are excluded: Lussenhoff and Meloño turn out not to be squad members at all, contrary to their earlier "missing" label — both are incoming Apertura '97 signings per their own trajectory tables (Lussenhoff still at Toros Neza in Mexico, Meloño still at Uruguay's Rentistas, through Clausura '97). Paredes is a third, newly-found exclusion for the same reason — still registered to Ferro Carril Oeste through Clausura '97.

Profile

Tall, big-framed keeper who is still quick to react. His best form came during the 1995 Clausura title run, strong enough that manager Héctor Veira made him club captain for his personality. Well-behaved on the pitch — sent off only once in his entire career — and a specialist at stopping penalties.

Career to date (as of mid-1997)

Debuted in Primera on 4 October 1987 for Unión de Santa Fe against Platense. Transferred to River Plate in 1988, spent all of 1988/89 on the bench, then played just 5 matches in the title-winning '89/90 campaign before becoming a starter in Apertura '90. A falling-out with Daniel Passarella put him back on the bench for two years, from where he watched River win the Apertura '91 title. Went a year without playing after that until San Lorenzo signed him in 1992; started again as backup before Héctor "Bambino" Veira installed him as first-choice, and together they won the 1995 Clausura — a title San Lorenzo had waited 21 years for. A shoulder injury in the first round of Apertura '96 kept him out five months, and he was never quite the keeper many had rated the best in the country before that injury. Called into the national team by Daniel Passarella after his strong 1995 form, debuting against Venezuela in a friendly on 21 December 1995 in Mendoza; started the following World Cup qualifier against Bolivia but a shaky display saw him dropped from the squad for the following matches. Struggled through most of the last campaign and was seen by some supporters as chiefly responsible for goals conceded; Castelli rested him for four matches during his worst run, but he returned as first-choice keeper after the Copa América '97 break. Played 15 matches in Clausura '97.
