Follow-up to a San Lorenzo de Almagro 1997 batch sourced from the same PC Fútbol database as the Boca Juniors and Vélez Sarsfield batches. The first pass processed 16 of an original 20 referenced PDFs (14 added as bio stubs, 2 excluded — Domingo Cardozo, Adrián Coria — both still registered to their prior clubs through Clausura '97 per their own trajectory tables); the remaining 4 (Luiz Fernando, Lussenhoff, Manusovich, Meloño) were logged as "missing" at the time. This follow-up batch received the full 27-file folder: the 16 already-processed files plus 11 new ones — the 4 previously-missing names plus 7 never seen before (Núñez, Paredes, Passet, Paulo Silas, Rivadero, Saric, Tuzzio). Of those 11, 8 are confirmed genuine Clausura '97 San Lorenzo squad members and added here. 3 are excluded: Lussenhoff and Meloño turn out not to be squad members at all, contrary to their earlier "missing" label — both are incoming Apertura '97 signings per their own trajectory tables (Lussenhoff still at Toros Neza in Mexico, Meloño still at Uruguay's Rentistas, through Clausura '97). Paredes is a third, newly-found exclusion for the same reason — still registered to Ferro Carril Oeste through Clausura '97. This player's name collides with a pre-existing file already on disk (Paulo_Silas.html, 25,802 bytes, mtime 4 Nov 2025, an unreadable OneDrive placeholder with no entry anywhere in the live player database). To avoid any risk of overwriting whatever that file contains, this bio stub uses a fuller/disambiguated name variant for its filename; the original file was left untouched.

Profile

Right-footed attacking midfielder — normally an out-and-out No.10, but Gorosito's presence in that role forced him to adapt to either flank as a winger. Excellent vision of the game, precise passing, and a reliable shot on goal; one of San Lorenzo's standout players.

Career to date (as of mid-1997)

Played at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico for Brazil while at Sampdoria, under manager Sebastião Lazaroni — a poor tournament for a heavily-criticized Brazil side he couldn't lift above the team's mediocrity. An extensive club history: started at São Paulo alongside close friend and future international striker Müller; a brief spell at Sporting Lisbon; back to South America at Uruguay's Central Español, where he played just 2 matches; on to Sampdoria in Italy, where his form earned the World Cup call-up; then Cesena, his last stop in Europe, before returning home to Vasco da Gama. From there an agent brought him to Argentine football, via a spell at the modest Campinas club in Brazil. Before he arrived, rumors in Argentina weren't even sure whether the signing was Paulo Silas or his brother — also a footballer, playing in Portugal as a central defender, a very different profile — and Silas had to clear up the confusion on arrival. Debuted for San Lorenzo on 12 April 1994 against Boca, coming on in the second half to score the winner in a 1-0 win over the club's fiercest rival. Became a fan favorite from there, cast by supporters as heir to Gorosito — a framing Silas always pushed back on, saying he wasn't there to replace Gorosito, just to give his best. Missed only one match across the 1995 Clausura title run. In Clausura '97, Castelli started him on the right and the team performed superbly; a switch of flanks with Gustavo Zapata coincided with a dip in form, and San Lorenzo missed him further once an injury took him out of the side altogether. Played 9 matches, scored 4 goals, in Clausura '97.
