Part of a San Lorenzo de Almagro 1997 batch sourced from the same PC Fútbol database as the Boca Juniors batches. Of 20 PDFs referenced, 16 arrived in this session (4 — Luiz Fernando, Lussenhoff, Manusovich, Meloño — were referenced but never transferred, despite two attempts, and are not yet processed). Of the 16 received, 2 (Domingo Cardozo, Adrián Coria) were excluded: both were still registered to their prior clubs (Colegiales, Platense) through Clausura '97 per their own trajectory tables, only arriving at San Lorenzo for the following Apertura '97. The remaining 14 are new, verified Clausura '97 San Lorenzo first-team squad members, added as bio stubs. Three of the 14 — Abreu, Gorosito and Angelucci — share a name with a pre-existing HTML file already on disk (Sebastian_Abreu.html, Nestor_Gorosito.html, Gilberto_Angelucci.html) that could not be opened for inspection (OneDrive placeholder files, not hydrated locally) and have no entry anywhere in the live player database. To avoid any risk of overwriting whatever those files contain, this bio stub uses a fuller name variant and a distinct filename; the original files were left untouched.

Profile

A tall, powerful forward who remains comfortable with the ball at his feet. Dangerous in the penalty area, with excellent finishing instincts, and rated by many in Uruguay as one of the country's most promising talents. His aerial ability is the standout trait — the source says it's practically impossible to beat him in the air once the ball reaches him properly.

Career to date (as of mid-1997)

Capped by Uruguay after his move to San Lorenzo; part of the squad eliminated from France '98 qualifying after poor form in South American qualifiers, a near-ever-present in call-ups but not always a starter. Played his first Copa América at Bolivia '97, where Uruguay had a poor tournament overall. Started out at Atlético Nacional de Minas, his hometown club, in 1993; caught the eye of youth coaches once he moved to play in Montevideo, leading to a Defensor Sporting contract and a fast track into the first team. Scored 6 goals in the 1996 Copa Libertadores, where Defensor were eliminated on penalties in the round of 16 by Universidad de Chile. San Lorenzo's board watched him in the Uruguayan league and signed him once Apertura '96 had already begun. Debuted in the Argentine Primera División on 15 September 1996, scoring in a 1-1 derby draw with Boca at La Bombonera — the start of a strong rapport with San Lorenzo's fans. His first season was excellent, finishing as the club's top scorer and earning his first senior Uruguay call-ups. A quieter second season followed, but he still found good goals — notably a chip over goalkeeper Gutiérrez to beat Huracan at the Nuevo Gasometro. Finished as the club's second-highest scorer with 6 goals in 14 Clausura '97 appearances.
